M's week of cooking

M's week of cooking was last week. Since he is only 9 we made a few exceptions for him.

His menu looked like this:

Sunday~hamburgers and taters
Monday~Fried chicken and veggies
Tuesday~"ham' burgers made with sliced ham and cheese
Wednesday~Beef and bean nachos
Thursday~hotdogs and fries!!
Friday~store-bought pizza (he helped prepare them!)
Saturday~sausage and egg wraps, pancakes

And a side-ways pic..I had it rotated on my computer, not sure why it loaded this way.

Menu planning for my older children

For a homeschooling assignment, I am having our oldest four children plan a week's worth of suppers. When I told them the plan, I heard the expected whooping "yay..hot dogs and French fries!"

Um....nope.

So I explained the criteria they must follow...

No hotdogs
 At least one crockpot meal
One 'bean' night. (using pinto or black beans)
Include vegetables
One soup night or 'rice' night
Plan ahead. Try to use what we already have on hand.
I wanted them to plan the week out so we had a 'variety'and not beef three nights in a row and chicken two nights in a row, etc.

Our 11 year old N goes first. His menu for the week is as follows:

Sunday--hamburgers and fried potatoes
Monday-chicken in the crockpot with rice, veggie and dessert
Tuesday--beef roast in the crockpot, with veggie and mashed potatoes and homemade rolls
Wednesday--spaghetti and homemade French bread
Thursday--fried rice and dessert
Friday--homemade pizza
Saturday--chili

First night..hamburgers and fried potatoes

Monday. He was rinsing the chicken to place in the crockpot.

Tuesday. Roast, veggies, mashed potatoes and homemade rolls!
The roast was cooked in the crockpot a little too long..but it was still good.

Good job N!

Wednesday night..spaghetti and homemade French bread! We use canned tomato sauce and season it ourselves..he made it nice and spicy! The French bread loaves turned out a bit big..could have probably made it into three loaves. It was very yummy though!

Baby-cakes loved it all!

Thursday night:
Fried rice with ham!
He knew he'd be gone that evening, so he made this in the morning so we could heat it up for supper.
